Pravoslavci (Serbian Cyrillic: Православци, lit. "Orthodoxy") is the fourth studio album and second war album by Serb singer Lepi Mića. It is also the first release by SuperTon and one of three cassettes produced to coincide with the VHS release.

Background

Announcement at end of Najava programa Zelene TV
"... a message for lovers of Serb folk music. Channel „S” and „Superton” from Belgrade prepared material for a new cassette by „Lepi Mića” with 8 new Serb songs. The cassette will appear on the domestic market these days. For abroad we offer the rights to publish audio and video cassettes. All information on the phone numbers:" (Circa early 1993)

In 1993, the Diskos record label was in chaos, and chances of another album being produced at the studio very slim. Cvetin Todorović would offer to help those who previously published under Diskos, such as Gedža and Lepi Mića, and established his recording studio, SuperTon as a production studio. As a result, staff who helped with Republiko Srpska would move over to SuperTon to work on Pravoslavci, such as Goran Radinović, who had worked with Cvetin under his group, Genijalci CT. SuperTon would co-produce Pravoslavci with S Kanal (who had already created music videos for Lepi Mića) to create additional music videos for some songs on Pravoslavci. These videos were then compiled and released on VHS later in the year, on a tape titled Srbima za sva vremena (Serbs for all time).

Release

Pravoslavci was released some time in 1993 and, because SuperTon was in its early stages, most of the tapes suffered quality issues, and saturation, caused by instruments being too loud. Some prints of the album would have a full-colored background, while others would lack color on the background and name. It is assumed that the colored version came first, with the more monotone one rereleasing sometime later as with Puče puška na sred Semberije. It's also assumed that most early SuperTon cassettes had black shells, and that clear shelled tapes were introduced later on.

While all songs from Pravoslavci have surfaced on the internet, they are in poor quality, suggesting that the master is currently lost.

The exact release date of Pravoslavci is unknown but is believed to be around February or March 1993. (Why?)
