Plači voljena zemljo (Serbian Cyrillic: Плачи вољена земљо, lit. "Cry, Beloved Land") is the third studio album by vocal group Braća sa Dinare, released mid-1996, by SuperTon. It would be the last album from the group published by SuperTon as well as the vocalist debut of Lazo Pajčin.
Background
"On mi je rekao, da ne zna šta će posle vojske. Ja mu napišem sto naslova i kažem: 'Evo, ovo ćeš da radiš!'"
— Baja Mali Knindža, in LAZO PAJČIN PRAVIO JE HITOVE SAMO OD NASLOVA, kurir.rs (20 June 2022)
Like Idemo dalje, there is no photographer credited. Instead photo selectors are credited. The cover of the album is of the Dinara mountainside with the double fold a picture of a young Baja and a quote by Proka Jovkić. Recording of the album took place between April and May of 1996. Lujan of the original lineup would not return and while Novak does not appear in the album, he returns in the next album, Ja se svoga, ne odričem do groba. Instead cousin Lazo Pajčin (who had contributed to the albums Rat i mir and Život damo Krajine ne damo a few years prior) performs likely due to concerns over what he would do after his military service.[1]
The album's themes pertain to post-war topics such as displacement and what was Krajina. The song "Pješke idem iz grada" is attributed by "traditional", though was originally written by Mijat Božović in 1988. Its lyrics was altered to better fit the album's themes. The last track, "Posle oluje" is a callback to the Živeće ovaj narod song, "Miriše na kišu" as it retains the song's melody and lyrics with the line "Oblačno je, i kiša se sprema" being a direct reference to the song.
Release
Plači voljena zemljo was released mid-1996. Unlike previous albums, the cassette would have the track listing as sequential. Whether or not it was intended to be a multi-cassette release is unknown.
The album was initially uploaded on Youtube by the official SuperTon channel in 2015 with the audio being in poor quality and the source having severe sticky shed.[2] The audio would be reuploaded along with a full scan of the cover three years later, this time seemingly derived from a master copy.[3]
