Srpkinjo, majko, rađaj sinove (Serbian Cyrillic: Српкињо, мајко рађај синове, lit. "Serbian Mother, Give Birth to Sons") is the debut album of Desa Čekić and features Borislav Ličanin as the backing vocalist, released in 1994, by Jugohit. It would be the only known album released by Čekić.

Background

While not much is known on the album's development, the postcard that came with the album suggests that the album was meant to advertise Ličanin's services.

Release

Postcard packaged with some editions of Srpkinjo, majko, rađaj sinove.

Srpkinjo, majko, rađaj sinove would release some time in 1994. There are two known versions of the release, one with a clear cassette and another being a black matte cassette, both with white labels. Some versions would come with a postcard with Ličanin on it with a signature and contact information. While there are only two knows scans of the album's cover, both versions have the credits on the back of the j-card imprinted on the front. Like a majority of Jugohit albums, the album would become lost media.

In 2023, RandomAtribute20K would acquire the tape and on May 22, 2023, the album would be uploaded to YouTube, and is now considered found.

Half of the album's contents would be covers of old folk songs adapted by Ličanin. The album is notable for Čekić having decent vocals, but being off-beat. It is unknown if it was intentional, an error when mixing the album, or budgetary or timing restrictions preventing more takes being recorded. While there is speculation of a version existing where the vocals are on beat, there is no evidence to support this. The last song would be composed by Mladen Nikolić, the future CEO of Jugohit.
