''Bila jednom jedna zemlja'' features Baja's second collaboration with Riblja Čorba frontman, Bora Đorđević whose first guest appearance in a Baja album was in ''Još se ništa ne zna'' two years prior. He would appear on the title track and "Ja ću da pevam". Unlike the self-titled debut album, the original trio would only appear on two tracks: "Dinarska baraba" and "Epidemija". Despite the last two songs of the album being arranged by Orkestar Pravoslavci, they are not patriotic in nature which is unconventional for the orchestra. The picture featured in the back of the j-card is also featured in an interview published by Sabor.

The style of the album would be more emphasis on folk than disco, which would be a staple of albums arranged by Željko Jovanović. Whether or not it was the decision of Željko, Baja, or both is unclear.

It would also be released by Estrada Shop for Swiss distribution. The title track would be featured in the 1998 compilation ''[[The Best Off]]''.

In 2016, the official SuperTon YouTube channel would upload the album, though in low quality. It is thought that the masters of the album have since been lost.
