Pogibija Zvonka Osmajlića na Ibarskoj magistrali (Serbian Cyrillic: Погибија Звонка Осмајлића на Ибарској магистрала, lit. "The Death of Zvonko Osmajlić on Ibar Highway") is a single by Radojica Bugarin, released some time in the early 2000's, by P.P. "Vojvoda" Bijelo Polje.

Background

Picture of Zvonko from the sport club named in his honor. It is also featured on the j-card's double fold with slightly different color grading.

On October 3, 1999, a truck would crash into a motorcade with the intent to assassinate Serbian Renewal Movement leader Vuk Drašković. While Vuk survived, his brother-in-law and three bodyguards, did not. One of the bodyguards killed was career judoka Zvonko Osmajlić. Zvonko was part of the Yugoslavian national judo team, a captain and manager of of the Partizan judo club and before his death, was the director of the Tašmajdan Sports and Recreational center and an instructor at the Sports Academy in Belgrade. He also tried to introduce his country to Sumo wrestling and was to participate in the Sydney Olympics[1] Almost a year after his death, a martial arts center was created and named in his honor and still is in operation.[2] It is unclear what the front cover's significance is, but it can be assumed that it is either images of Zvonko during his military years or training potential bodyguards for high members of the Serbian Renewal Movement.

Release

While no date is given and how late the assassination attempt happened, it is speculated that the album released some time in either 2000 or the early 2000's.
