Ne Dam Krajine (Serbian Cyrillic: Не Дам Крајине) is the debut studio album of Bosnian Serb war singer, Baja Mali Knindža and features Orkestar Vlade Todosijevića as the backing orchestra. Released around 1992, this would be Baja's first and only studio album published by Jugodisk as well as the only known collaboration with the orchestra.

Background

Fueled by the beginning of the break up of Yugoslavia, Baja set out to make a patriotic album. Despite having enough funds to record the album, he lost all of it on the way to the recording studio and would wind up in debt. After the first hurdle of financial woes, he had faced another hurdle: getting the album published. Due to the contents of the album, PGP RTS wanted nothing to do with it. He would eventually turn to Jugodisk where it was accepted and published, a move that took him by surprise.[1] Initial recording took place some time in 1991 and the album was published in 1992.[2]

Release

Не Дам Крајине was released by Jugodisk some time in 1992. Upon release, it became one of Jugodisk's best-selling albums and would contribute to Baja's rise to stardom during wartime.[1]

A year later, the song "Krv Nije Voda" (lit. "Blood is not Water") would be referenced along side the song "Ne Volim Te Alija" in the song "Čuti Čuti Ujko" from the album, Još Se Ništa Ne Zna. The song, however, is referenced as "Stiže Vojvoda".[3] In the same year, the titular song, "Ne Dam Krajine" would be featured as the last music video in the VHS compilation, Najveći Hitovi.[4] It is the only song from the album to have an official music video.

In 2015, Jugodisk would upload an alternate music video of "Ne Dam Krajine", though the circumstances to if, when, and where it would air back then is unknown. When it was initially uploaded, it was said to have been released in 1993.[5] Five years later, Jugodisk would re-release the video with improved audio with the alleged release year being changed to 1991.[6]

Nearly thirty years later, Jugodisk would remaster the album and upload it to digital music streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and Deezer in 2020, though it is simply titled Ne Dam Krajine. This remaster would also have the initial release year as 1991, though only the YouTube upload shows the correct year with the company clarifying the discrepancy with the year.[7][2]
