Music and lyrics

The song uses the traditional motif "Ko to kaže, ko to laže Srbija je mala" and makes note of the close relationship between Serbia and Montenegro.

Lyrics

Lyrics:

gledam kapu đeda moga,
crnogorca čestitoga
na njoj četri slova stoje
crnogorska kapa toje
Oj ha!

i moja je majka stara, zapjevati uvjek znala
ko to kaže ko to laže Srbija je mala?
ko je rek'o taj se vara, Crna gora da je mala

Crna gora i Srbija, to su braća najmilija
ko god iđe za to pita, to je pjesma istinita
Oj ha!

i moja je majka stara, zapjevati uvjek znala
ko to kaže ko to laže Srbija je mala?
ko je rek'o taj se vara, Crna gora da je mala

mi nijesmo katolici, no Kosova osvetnici
sve za sreću našem rodu, sve za srpstvo rodu i slobodu
Oj ha!

i moja je majka stara, zapjevati uvjek znala
ko to kaže ko to laže srbija je mala?
ko je rek'o taj se vara, Crna gora da je mala

Lyrics (English):

I look at my grandfathers hat,
A honorable Montenegrin
On her are four letters
It is a Montenegrin cap
Oj ha!

And my old mother, always knew how to sing
Who there says, who there lies that Serbia is small?
Who said that Montenegro is small is mistaken

Montenegro and Serbia, they are dearest brothers
whoever asks about that, that song is the truth
Oj ha!

And my old mother, always knew how to sing
Who there says, who there lies that Serbia is small?
Who said that Montenegro is small is mistaken

We are not Catholics, but avengers of Kosovo
All for happiness of our folk, all for Serbdom and freedom
Oj ha!

And my old mother, always knew how to sing
Who there says, who there lies that Serbia is small?
Who said that Montenegro is small is mistaken
