"Zemlja mojih pradedova" (Serbian Cyrillic: "Земља мојих прадедова", lit. "The Land of My Great-Grandfathers") is a song performed by Vojislav Vojo Tintor. An alternate version also written by the lyricist, Rade Vidić would appear in the 1994 Ljubiša Kalas album Vera pravoslavna under the name "Kolevka je ovo moja".

Music and lyrics

The speaker of this song tells why he cannot leave his homeland as it is worth more than tangible riches like gold coins (ducats) and treasure. The mention of the history of hardship within this land along with the fact that his family lives there gives the speaker more reasons to stay.

Lyrics

Lyrics:

Neću, neću u tuđinu
Neću blago ni dukate
Da napustim rodnu grudu
Nema blaga da mi plate

Tu me majka rodila
Tu me mlekom dojila
Kolevka je ovo moja
Zemlja mojih pradedova

Nekad, Nekad živelo se
Ljudi kažu mnogo teže
Al' nevolja znaj još jače
Da za rodnu grudu veže

Tu me majka rodila
Tu me mlekom dojila
Kolevka je ovo moja
Zemlja mojih pradedova

Volim, volim ovo zemlju
Jer tu žive mili moji
I za mene osim ove
Druga zemlja ne postoji

Tu me majka rodila
Tu me mlekom dojila
Kolevka je ovo moja
Zemlja mojih pradedova

Lyrics (English):

I won't go abroad
I don't want treasure or ducats
To abandon my homeland
There is no treasure they can pay me

There my mother gave birth to me
There she nursed me with milk
This cradle of mine
The land of my great-grandfathers

"In the past" people said
"Living was more difficult"
But trouble is known to be stronger
That it binds one to the homeland

There my mother gave birth to me
There she nursed me with milk
This cradle of mine
The land of my great-grandfathers

I love this land
Because my dear ones live here
Apart from this one
No other country exists for me

There my mother gave birth to me
There she nursed me with milk
This cradle of mine
The land of my great-grandfathers
